Fleurieu Regional Development was established in 1992 in partnership with State Government (through the Office of Regional Affairs) and Local Government Authorities (Alexandrina Council, City of Victor Harbor & District Council of Yankalilla), to facilitate economic development in the region.
FRD aims to stimulate and nurture sustainable economic development that respects the environment and cultural heritage of the Fleurieu region.
The FRD, in partnership with business, government and other stakeholders will develop a stronger, sustainable regional economy by:
- Identifying business needs and opportunities
- Increasing business capacity and capabilities
- Maximising investment
- Expanding our regional skills and expertise
- Facilitating necessary physical & social infrastructure
How can we help you?
The key objective of the Board is to "grow the economic base of the region". This objective will be achieved by the Board & Staff, as it delivers services and carries out a range of activities associated with economic development including:
- Provision of advice and assistance to regional businesses
- Provide Small Business with development assistance
- Develop and implement strategies for enterprise growth
- Investment attraction to the region
- Develop and implement strategies to assist individual sectors
- Facilitate employment creation and/or retention opportuities
- Improve the skills capacity of the region through employment and training initiatives
- Ensure regional infrastructure is adequate to accommodate growth
- Maintain the region’s environment through sustainable development
- Develop effective relationships with key policy and decision makers
- Participate in policy development at regional, state & federal levels
