Regional Waste & Resource Management

FRD is coordinating the implementation of a Waste Management Strategy for Greenwaste Processing in the Fleurieu Region. This is a joint initiative with the three Councils in the region. The project involves identifying and implementing waste minimization and management initiatives for the region, with funding from the EPA and Councils.

A comprehensive plan has been developed by a chosen consultant, detailing the location of all three sites in the region, outlining their responsibilities and commitment in operating the landfills, plus establishing a comprehensive waste minimization and recycling program for the landfills. This project is ongoing, with the completion of the site plan and business plan and the establishment of the sites under the new guidelines. Monitoring of the sites will be undertaken during the next 12 months.
